In the spring of 2015, Elijah Williams began volunteering on weekends with Cooperation Jackson at the suggestion of a close friend. Since then, they have become a member of Cooperation Jackson and is currently a worker-owner of Freedom Farms Cooperative, as well as an active member of the National Black Food and Justice Alliance, and a worker-owner of the emerging Nubia’s Place Café and Catering Cooperative. This past December, they were instrumental in co-organizing and facilitating the youth plenary for the Southern Human Rights Organizing Conference SHROC, held at Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi. They have tremendous spirit and are budding as an activist, organizer, artist, and cooperator, becoming a leader amongst their peers.
