Lydia Avila Hernandez

California Calls.
Lydia is the Associate Director of Organizing at California Calls. Lydia leads the California Calls’ Field Team in supporting Anchor organizations across California with all aspects of their civic engagement programs, capacity building and training. Prior to joining California Calls, she was the Director of Community Organizing at Innercity Struggle, an educational justice organization working with youth and parents to improve the quality of education in East Los Angeles schools. She was also a Community Organizer for East LA Community Corporation, where she worked with Boyle Heights’ residents to fight gentrification by advocating for community driven equitable land-use policies, legalizing street vending, expanding affordable housing and protecting tenant rights.
