Laura Martin is a graduate of Colorado State University, and moved to Las Vegas in 2007 from her hometown of Colorado Springs to join SEIU’s campaign to teach Nevadans how to caucus, and appeal directly to presidential candidates for quality, affordable health care. After working for UNLV helping foster and kinship care families navigate the state’s child care programs, she then joined Americans for Democratic Action to ensure low-income Nevadans in East and North Las Vegas were voting in the 2010 midterms. Martin then joined PLAN’s campaign to ensure fair and equitable implementation of Obamacare. She was promoted to Communications Director and helped implement a statewide communications plan in coordination with the nationwide Keep Families Together campaign, advocating for comprehensive immigration reform that led to Senate passage of an immigration bill. She most recently served as PLAN’s associate director where she managed the staff and operations of the Las Vegas office, and helps lead the strategic planning and implementation of PLAN Action’s electoral campaigns including 2016’s Immigrant Voters Win, 2018 Just District Attorney primary, and 2018’s Win Justice; each campaign turning out a record number of infrequent and first time voters. As of January 1st, Laura serves as PLAN’s executive director.
