Julia Beebe

Matahari Women Workers’ Center.
Julia first discovered community organizing in college through her involvement with a local coalition of schools, churches and unions. Since then, she has organized in South Texas, along the Mexican border, and in Boston. Over the past five years, she has worked with families, immigrants and now women workers, particularly domestic workers, around issue of immigration, healthcare, adult education and fair pay, among others. Her central work with MataHari is identifying, training and convening domestic worker leaders to take collective action around issues of concern in their workplaces and communities. She continues to grow as an organizer and leader by learning from the community leaders and fellow organizers with whom she works.
